To build a trusted marketplace in Cameroon, Cameroon Marketplace collects personal and business verification data. This ensures high-integrity transactions for both buyers and sellers.
- Basic Account Details: Name, email address, phone number (OTP verified).
- Identity Verification Files: High-resolution photos of government-issued IDs (National Identity Card, Passport, or Driver’s License).
- Liveness Selfie Checks: Video selfie clips to ensure account matching and prevent identity theft.
- Business Credentials: Business registration documents, taxpayer cards, and authorization files for Business Verified profiles.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is strictly used to maintain marketplace security and compute Trust Scores. We do not sell or monetize your personal files.
- Verifying identity to unlock progressive marketplace tiers.
- Calculating trust ratings to show buyers you are a validated vendor.
- Preventing duplicate, fraudulent, or malicious accounts.
- Processing secure payment milestones and protecting local escrows.
3. Verification File Security & Encryption
We treat verification credentials with extreme confidentiality. Unlike other platforms, your sensitive documents are never visible to the public, buyers, or other sellers.
- AES-256 Bit Encryption: All uploaded identity and business credentials are encrypted at rest.
- Strict Access Controls: Only authorized compliance officers can review submissions during the 24-48 hour window.
- No Third-Party Sharing: We never share or sell verification files to third-party marketing companies.
4. Data Retention & Deletion Rights
We retain your verification credentials for as long as your account is active to maintain your verification status and platform integrity.
- Access: You can view your active verification level at any time in the Verification Center.
- Correction: You can request updates or resubmit documents if your details change.
- Deletion: If you choose to close your account, you can request full deletion of all uploaded ID and liveness video records. Data is purged within 30 days.
5. Cameroonian Legal Compliance
Cameroon Marketplace operates in full compliance with the laws of the Republic of Cameroon regarding electronic commerce, cybersecurity, and data protection.
We strictly adhere to Law No. 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 on cybersecurity and cybercrime, and apply industry-standard protections to guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of all user transaction documents.
