1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Cameroon Marketplace, Cameroon’s premier trusted social marketplace. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms form a legally binding contract between you and Cameroon Marketplace.
Please read these terms carefully. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use or access our marketplace services.
2. Verification Levels & Profiles
To combat fraud and protect consumers, Cameroon Marketplace operates a multi-tiered identity verification framework. Sellers must provide accurate documents to unlock higher tier capacities:
- Basic Account: Accessible after phone OTP validation. Permits browsing, basic buying, and limited listing permissions.
- Verified Profile: Requires a government-issued National ID, Driver’s License, or Passport, plus a liveness selfie check. This unlocks the trusted seller badge, higher listing caps, and builds buyer trust.
- Business Profile: Requires official business registration (RCCM, taxpayer card, or patent document). Unlocks advanced catalog features, custom storefronts, and specialized business promotions.
Falsifying identity files will lead to immediate, permanent account ban and reports to national security agencies.
3. Financial Operations & Mobile Money Escrows
To guarantee absolute safety, Cameroon Marketplace offers a secure milestone escrow system utilizing Cameroonian mobile money channels (MTN Mobile Money - MoMo, and Orange Money - OM).
- Milestone Protection: Payments made by buyers are held securely in escrow by the platform until the buyer inspects and approves the delivered goods.
- Release of Funds: Once the buyer confirms delivery via the application, funds are immediately credited and withdrawable via MoMo or Orange Money.
- Escrow Fees: Platform escrow service fees are deducted transparently during payout, as detailed in the vendor portal.
- No Direct Off-Platform Payments: Buyers who pay vendors directly outside the Cameroon Marketplace milestone framework forfeit all platform purchase protections, and sellers bypass security compliance at their own risk.
4. Phone Verification & OTP Agreements
Your identity and account safety on Cameroon Marketplace are anchored to your active mobile telephone number.
- One-Time Password (OTP): Every registration, critical transaction, and login check requires a valid MTN or Orange Cameroon number verified via SMS OTP.
- Account Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your OTP and SIM card. Actions executed following a valid OTP challenge are legally attributed to you.
- Number Ownership: You verify that the registered phone number belongs to you and is registered in your name under Cameroonian SIM card registration regulations.
5. Disputes, Refunds & Cameroonian Law
Cameroon Marketplace operates under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Cameroon. All transactions, digital contracts, and user interactions are regulated accordingly.
- E-Commerce Compliance: These terms are drafted in alignment with Law No. 2010/021 of 21 December 2010 on electronic commerce in Cameroon.
- Dispute Resolution: If a conflict arises between a buyer and a seller concerning escrowed funds, either party can trigger the Dispute Review within the app. Our compliance team will examine delivery proofs, photo records, and chat logs to issue a final refund or payout decision.
- Cybersecurity Violations: Any attempt to hack, scrape, or conduct fraudulent activities on the marketplace will be prosecuted under Law No. 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 on cybersecurity and cybercrime.
